Retractable leashes vs long lines

Why do I choose to use and recommend long lines over retractable leashes? The most common argument against retractable leashes is that they are dangerous, and yes, they can cause cuts and burns. But long lines aren’t without their hazards too. Long lines are easily tripped on, stepped on, and can wrap around your dog’s legs. Ultimately it comes down to control for me. You have better control over your dog when using a traditional long line. You can use two hands, step on the line, or drop it as needed. These are things that are important in sticky situations with other dogs and people, and these are things you simply can not do with a retractable leash. please see the pros and cons list below comparing the two leash options.
